Plan:
Truss Bill of Materials
The purpose of this assignment was to create a bridge design that is capable of holding a great amount of weight, but still following the design constraints and as cheap as possible. I decided to go with a simple design that had an equal balance on both sides. I chose to work with mostly smaller bars because I figured they were capable of maintaining a strong, stern core to the bridge. I was also influenced by a sort of pyramid shape using only the two base layers.
What I learned from this assignment is that even a big bridge structure can be turned into something small and simple by using smaller bars and the same ratio for different bars used. Put in a simpler way, if you took your design and made each bar a little bit smaller, you would have the same design but with smaller bars and cheaper costs.
